It's always a matter of degrees.
When people are trying to say that someone completely changed they tend to say, "She did a total 360" referring to 360 degrees. The problem with that is that 360 degrees is a full circle so to go 360 you would end up right where you started. To make sense you need to say, "She did a total 180." 180 degrees would leave you facing the opposite direction.
