Norman Borlaug: The Unknown Genius

borlaugNorman Borlaug is a 1970 Noble Peace Prize winner for his work with semi-dwarf, high- yielding,  disease-resistant wheat. Thanks to his research, between 1965-1970 Pakistan and India were able to more than double their production of wheat.

It is estimated that his work has saved over 1 BILLION lives from starvation.

Sadly, we lost Mr. Borlaug in Sept of 2009 at the ripe old age of 95. While his story isn't very sexy it is incredible. It is also unbelievable that so few people know who he was or what he did.

There is a great deal I would like to say about this amazing man but I feel that there are a few articles already written about him on which I can not improve. I will instead provide the links and encourage everyone to take a minute to read them and reflect on the awe inspiring contributions made to the world by one determined person.
